The hydroclimatology group in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at University of Nebraska-Lincoln is inviting applications for a PhD position in land-atmosphere interactions and climate modeling.
Project Description
The PhD student will work on a recently funded project about land-atmosphere interactions in flash drought over the US. The research topics include: characterizing flash droughts and conventional droughts in the US using different datasets and metrics; diagnosing the land-surface and atmospheric processes before and during droughts; and quantifying the land-surface contributions to flash drought development using a novel set of WRF experiments.
Required Qualifications
· BS or MS degree in Meteorology, Climatology, Hydrology, or a closely related discipline.
· Research experience in climate data analysis and climate modeling.
· Strong programming skills (e.g., Fortran, Matlab, Python, R, or NCL).
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
